Project-Firefly. St. Moritz, Switzerland – Finance Competition

Project Firefly is offering the opportunity to travel to Switzerland and join in their event “White Turf”. This event takes place on February 3rd, 2013, you will get to meet the CEO of Private Banking company at Credit Suisse. As well as the chance to network and become part of the private banking world for four days in St. Moritz, Switzerland.

This competition is open to all university students, and your essay will be published if you receive positive reviews from their Academic Review Board. For a chance to become a part in this event submit an essay between 800 and 1,500 words on one of the following topics for a chance to win.

1. What are the key qualities of a successful 21st century private banker? Why?

2. The Stalled Global Recovery: Is this time different?

3. Simplicity versus complexity: what are the limits of structured financial products?

4. “All wealthy people should give back to society”. Do any philanthropists from earlier eras provide a model for giving by the wealthy in the 21st century?

Major Finance Blog Seeks Writing Intern (San Francisco, CA)

Can you write engaging, high-quality reviews of financial products in a fun and consumer-friendly format? NerdWallet, a leading personal finance website, is looking for a rock star writing intern. Job Description

·      Collect information about financial products and financial institutions, and identify the best deals for consumers.

·      Write smart, clear and consumer-friendly blog posts on banking, personal finance and financial literacy.

·      Assist lead writer with feature articles

·      Promote articles on social media outlets – Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest

·      Assist with article PR and marketing

Minimum Qualifications

·      Bachelor’s degree in a writing-intensive field (English, Journalism, etc.). Juniors and seniors with relevant writing experience are also encouraged to apply.

·      6 months to 1 year of experience writing for an online publication, magazine or newspaper

·      Attention to detail and ability to self-edit

·      Friendly disposition and positive outlook. You should be comfortable working with all kinds of people.

·      Successful completion of at least one college-level math or economics class.

Desired Qualifications

·      Strong analytical and expository writing skills

·      Familiarity with personal finance, nonprofits and financial institutions

·      Experience with WordPress

·      Knowledge of AP or Chicago Style guidelines

Compensation

·      $12 / hr; additional performance based bonuses available

Vita Organization is looking for volunteers to help out with tax season!!! This nonprofit organization, with the help of Earn it! Keep it! Save it! Coalition and the IRS, trains and certifies volunteers so that they are able to prepare tax returns for those who do not have the means to do it themselves. Training is free and takes about 24-36 hours to complete, and is done in December or January. Volunteers are tested in their tax preparation skills and sorted into Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced. Being a Vita Site Volunteer, you will:

  • Learn valuable and useful skills in tax preparation.
  • Regularly work with other volunteers that are enthusiastic about volunteer work and helping others!
  • Help families and individuals that really need someone they can trust to do their taxes and receive their full tax refund without feeling taken advantage of or feeling insecure about the process.
  • See the immediate effects of your hard work- a family seeing their tax refund amount won’t be able to stop smiling or thanking you!

 

This is a great volunteer opportunity, especially for Finance or Accounting majors looking for a little bit of hands on experience. Participants are encouraged to even include this event on their resume, as it is a great opportunity.

Roles:
* Manage our social media sites and engage with our fans/followers (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, YouTube). This includes posting content, liking posts by relevant organizations, repinning relevant pins, etc.

Community Manager Internship

We’re an early stage start up in beta stage that provides a SaaS product to the restaurant and hospitality industry. A San Francisco based company, we provide a cloud based web application that will enhance operations management of front of the house, as well as back of the house, which will enable real-time reporting of critical and time sensitive restaurant operations data. 

We are extremely excited about what we’re doing.

As our Community Manager Intern, you will help us build a movement and engage with our fans, as well as clients by providing context via social media networks, and company blog. Our goal is to share our passion for food, technology, and support for local communities and businesses. A key part of your responsibilities will be creating and maintaining relationships with bloggers, facebook fans, as well as the restaurant community. You will also develop campaigns to engage our existing accounts. This role will require 10-15 hours per week, and you will be working remotely while reporting to the team on a weekly basis. Your role will be re-evaluated which can turn into a permanent and paid position.

Short-term Paid Admin Internship

Free-range, grass-fed beef company seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter for a short-term paid internship in our San Francisco office. This is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of an exciting company that is growing rapidly in an emerging market. If sustainability, animal welfare, and healthy living are important to you, and you meet the requirements below, we want to hear from you! This is an entry-level position; it would be great for a recent college graduate with an applicable degree (business, agriculture, etc.).

Responsibilities include:

  • Data entry, general office/administrative and accounting support
