Conference Communication Intern with Net Impact

Conference Communications Intern

Want to put your marketing and communications savvy to work while attending one of the most popular sustainability events in the country (and maybe the world)?

Net Impact is a nonprofit community of changemakers dedicated to using our jobs to change the world, and we’re looking for an ambitious, well-written strategic thinker to join us as the Conference Communications Intern as we launch our 20th annual Net Impact Conference this October.

What you’ll do (and learn) as the Conference Communications Intern

Net Impact interns don’t fetch coffee — they’re an integrated member of the team, at any given time working directly with staff and members. As a critical part of the team, the Conference Communications Intern will work closely with the Conference Team and the Community Marketing Manager and is actively involved with the following:

  • Writing and contributing to conference communications and marketing collateral
  • Keeping the conference website up-to-date
  • Coordinating with media and outreach partners
  • Supporting production of print collateral, especially the Conference Guidebook
  • Supporting other related conference marketing needs as necessary

You’ll receive hands-on training, more general career opportunities like our Brown-Bag Lunch Professional Development Series, access to our network of corporate and nonprofit professionals – and we’ll bring you to Baltimore, MD for the 2012 Net Impact Conference. You’ll also learn stuff critical to a career in event planning, marketing, or digital communications (especially in the nonprofit and social change space), including:

  • How to develop persuasive communications that drive audience behavior
  • How to use social media and online channels to support event and nonprofit marketing
  • How to prioritize and manage projects to deliver effective communications
  • How to build a network of professional colleagues to help propel your career forward
  • BA or BS degree and 0-2 years of full-time work experience
  • Exceptional writing skills, particularly in digital media or marketing
  • Marketing or communications experience, especially in digital or social media, preferred
  • HTML and other web experience preferred
  • Design experience such as Adobe InDesign or Photoshop proficiency a plus
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated analysis and research skills
  • Ability to work independently and juggle multiple deadlines
  • Flexibility and a sense of humor
  • Enthusiastic commitment to Net Impact’s mission
