Recruitment Team Intern | Human Resources

Summary
The Recruiting Intern position is dedicated to supporting and assisting the Recruitment Team in their scheduling efforts. The team is a staff of two that support the Wikimedia Foundation in its recruitment needs. The team collaborates with and serves the internal staff community, Wikimedia community and external agencies in sourcing, scheduling, interviewing and recruiting new talent into the organisation. The Intern must be able to work independently, have sound judgement, great organisational and communications skills.Internship PurposeThe Recruiting Internship exposes you to multiple aspects of the inner workings of: HR, recruiting, international communications, non-profits, tech companies.  You will have a program designed for you which will include specific tasks/activities,  goals/objectives, and methods of evaluation. The program will also outline the knowledge, skills, and techniques that you will gain in this internship.

Generally, you will:

- Recruiting

  • Learn recruiting tools, software and processes (including resume and interviewing techniques to help the intern in future job searches)
  • Help plan and schedule interviews across the Foundation, with external and internal candidates as well as various recruiting partners, all in multiple timezones.  It involves performing extensive calendering, liaising with Wikimedia staff, candidates and agencies alike
  • Work to make a great experience for candidates: welcoming them, supporting candidate during stressful travel situations, and ensuring the smooth running of interviews, whether done remotely or in the office

- HR

  • Learn basics on employment law
  • Assist on creating job descriptions
  • May assist in HR projects

- International Communications

  • Assist the recruiting and HR teams in creating materials for international events
  • Work with international staff and candidates to create a smooth flow of information between parties
  • Learn a variety of business communication tools (Hangout, Skype, IRC, chat/IM, conferencing, wiki)

- Non-Profit

  • Learn the challenges of the non-profit environment, including internal controls, process transparency, Foundation community involvement

- Tech

  • Learn tech systems and software specific to the Open Source movement
  • Learn about Wikimedia projects including editing articles on Wikipedia
  • Learn about recruiting in tech fields

Candidate Requirements

  • BS/BA in a related field in process, preferably one year completed
  • Proven experience working with diverse people at multiple levels and locations, including cultural & global awareness when dealing with international staff members and candidates; able to operate and effectively manage multiple cultural contexts, time zones and expectations
  • High level of attention to detail, record keeping and organisation, maintaining a wide variety of scheduling and projects without error
  • Comfortable with a high level of multitasking under tight deadlines
  • Excellent clarity and succinctness in communication both written and verbal, as well as excellent phone manners, especially when working with non-native English speakers
  • Resourceful, swift, creative problem solving skills, thinking swiftly and remaining calm in pressure situations to provide guidance
  • The ideal candidate will be able to deal comfortably and efficiently with ambiguity and an ever changing environment
  • Love working with a highly collaborative, consensus oriented environment
  • Quickly pick up and learn various s/w tools used at the Wikimedia Foundation (open source software, Libre Office, Jobvite)
  • Experience in coordinating recruiting travel helpful
  • One year related experience preferred

The Port of Oakland’s College Internship Program starts on Monday, June 3, 2013 and ends on Friday, August 2, 2013.  The Program offers an opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the Airport, Seaport and Commercial Real Estate lines of business.  The Program Assignments may be at the Port administration building at 530 Water Street, the Oakland International Airport or the Port Maritime area.

Internship Title: Marketing and Fundraising Intern

The Redford Center’s marketing and fundraising intern reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for supporting the organization’s consistent achievement of its goals.

Internship Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing marketing and communications support through materials creation, social media networks and online channels
  • Providing event support, including but not limited to film screenings and fundraisers
  •  Conducting topical research to support program development; compiling and delivering research reports
  • Supporting fundraising efforts through grant research, donor research, online fundraising campaigns
  • Assisting with basic administration such as communications, database management, travel planning, meeting scheduling
  • Work hours flexible, 35 hours per week

Additional Details:

  • May 28, 2013 – September 8, 2013

EVENTS INTERN – DESCRIPTION

Atlassian’s Event Marketing team seeks a driven, unflappable and fun-loving intern to help support development for Atlassian’s biggest shows, as well as marketing efforts for our sponsored trade shows. You’ll gain insight into the logistical and marketing details that make up an effective and measurable event. Additionally, you’ll help document, organize and drive company-wide adoption of our corporate events page, and help improve the tools we use to attract attendee engagement. 

What You’ll Do

  • Support projects for Atlassian’s biggest annual event, Summit
  • Assist in logistical planning for a new Atlassian thought leadership event
  • Work closely on logistics planning for 3-4 Atlassian-sponsored trade shows
  • Build out the Atlassian internal events resource page
  • Research compelling new premiums that relate to Atlassian products
  • Research and deliver event marketing competitive analysis study                                                                                                                                                                                      

What You’ve Done

  • Enrolled in college program, with 3.0 GPA
  • Experience with prioritizing and working on multiple projects
  • Excellent communication skills, especially with the general public
  • 1-2 previous project roles that you can speak in-depth about

  • Events and/or Marketing experience
  • Interest in technology/software industry
  • Availability for evening/afternoon support, if needed
  • Interest in social media platforms as they relate to events

It’s a work hard play hard environment. We need someone who can hold regular hours during the week but be flexible during evenings for onsite event support. This role reports to Atlassian’s Events Manager.

Street Fight Summit Volunteer Opportunity

The Street Fight Summit West 2013 conference is a technology conference with focus on hyperlocal, in San Francisco on June 4th  2013. We are currently looking for volunteers who may be interested in attending and volunteering their time at this conference.

DATES:

Tuesday, June 4 –  7:30am – 6:00pm

LOCATION:

Bentley Reserve

SHIFTS:

Tuesday, June 4

8:00am – 1:00pm – 7 volunteers (arrive 7:30am)

1:00pm – 6:00pm – 7 volunteers (arrive 12:30pm)   

VOLUNTEER RULES:

As a volunteer you are welcome to attend the entire event and the reception.  All we ask is that you attend one of the mandatory volunteer calls on May 27 (see below), report to your shift on time and perform your assigned duties during your shift. Dress code is business casual. Attached are the venue information and a floor plan.

POSTIONS:

-Speaker Runners – (2 positions available)

The speaker runner position is located solely at the registration desk for duration of the volunteer shift. When the speakers arrive to the registration desk, they will be required to check in, pick up their name badge and report to the Speaker Ready Room. It is the speaker runner’s position to escort speakers from registration desk to Speaker Ready Room.

-Speaker Ready Room – (1 position available)

This position is stationed in the “Green Room” for the duration of the volunteer shift. In this position the volunteer will work directly with our on-site Speaker Manager. Here the volunteer will assist the Speaker Manager in prepping speakers before they go backstage in addition to escorting them backstage.

-Auditorium Doors – (4 positions available)

Here volunteers will be manning auditorium doors, checking for appropriate name badges, making sure the doors are opened at breaks/lunch and closed right before the start of General Session.

DRESS:

Business casual, no jeans, wear comfy shoes, no sneakers

Man – slacks and a polo or collared shirt

Women – slacks, dress, we suggest staying away from high heels, as there will be a lot of standing and/or walking

I have the pleasure to inform you that we are going to extend the IESEG POSTGRADUATE Summer Academy application deadline until Monday, 28 May.

In addition, I am very pleased to present you the TWO scholarship opportunities for this programme:

The IESEG Summer academy Merit Based scholarship

IESEG provides merit-based aid for a limited number of its most qualified candidates. The scholarship covers between 25% and 50% of the topic based courses fee, based on academic merit of the chosen candidate. No financial documentation is required.

Supporting documents to be submitted:

1)      Personal Statement (500 word count): Tell us about your academic interests and discuss any experience or extra-curricular activities that may be relevant. Describe the goals you hope to achieve while studying at the IESEG Postgraduate Summer Academy in Paris.
