Generally, you will:
- Recruiting
- Learn recruiting tools, software and processes (including resume and interviewing techniques to help the intern in future job searches)
- Help plan and schedule interviews across the Foundation, with external and internal candidates as well as various recruiting partners, all in multiple timezones. It involves performing extensive calendering, liaising with Wikimedia staff, candidates and agencies alike
- Work to make a great experience for candidates: welcoming them, supporting candidate during stressful travel situations, and ensuring the smooth running of interviews, whether done remotely or in the office
- HR
- Learn basics on employment law
- Assist on creating job descriptions
- May assist in HR projects
- International Communications
- Assist the recruiting and HR teams in creating materials for international events
- Work with international staff and candidates to create a smooth flow of information between parties
- Learn a variety of business communication tools (Hangout, Skype, IRC, chat/IM, conferencing, wiki)
- Non-Profit
- Learn the challenges of the non-profit environment, including internal controls, process transparency, Foundation community involvement
- Tech
- Learn tech systems and software specific to the Open Source movement
- Learn about Wikimedia projects including editing articles on Wikipedia
- Learn about recruiting in tech fields
Candidate Requirements
- BS/BA in a related field in process, preferably one year completed
- Proven experience working with diverse people at multiple levels and locations, including cultural & global awareness when dealing with international staff members and candidates; able to operate and effectively manage multiple cultural contexts, time zones and expectations
- High level of attention to detail, record keeping and organisation, maintaining a wide variety of scheduling and projects without error
- Comfortable with a high level of multitasking under tight deadlines
- Excellent clarity and succinctness in communication both written and verbal, as well as excellent phone manners, especially when working with non-native English speakers
- Resourceful, swift, creative problem solving skills, thinking swiftly and remaining calm in pressure situations to provide guidance
- The ideal candidate will be able to deal comfortably and efficiently with ambiguity and an ever changing environment
- Love working with a highly collaborative, consensus oriented environment
- Quickly pick up and learn various s/w tools used at the Wikimedia Foundation (open source software, Libre Office, Jobvite)
- Experience in coordinating recruiting travel helpful
- One year related experience preferred
